CyberNet Worlds

About CyberNet Worlds

Since its inception in late 2000, CyberNet Worlds (CNW) has been at the forefront of 3D chat programs and often been home to hundreds of Citizens (registered users).

cits

CNW as a whole is a family community. Each member helps the other out and violence or vulgar language is not tolerated in the least bit. With a myriad of things to do, it’s never a dull moment in the wonderful Universe of CyberNet Worlds.

Citizens

Citizens in CNW are the paying members of the program. While using CNW is free for everyone, Citizens are able to do so much more. A Citizen can:

  • Purchase/Own his/her own world within which they can build things beyond their wildest dreams.
  • Save friends in a contact list
  • Communicate with other registered Citizens via the “telegram” system.
  • “Join” or invite other registered citizens to “Join” you anywhere in the 3D universe.

  • Participate in Citizen games and contests

  • Build in other worlds with that owners permission

  • Run pre-scripted or custom built “Bots” to assist them with building/running their world

Tourists

The program itself is free to use for anyone. Free users are known as Tourists and are just that. As with the real world, as a tourist you  are limited to your actions when visiting a foreign country. A Tourist in CNW is no different. You can chat with whomever you like, but there are some limitations. You cannot do the actions as described above in the “Citizens” section. Tourists are limited to building in the world !Tourists, but still have all the resources available to them to assist them in building magnificent projects from the mind’s eye.

Building

Building is by far the best of what makes CyberNet Worlds so much fun.

You can build anything you can dream of, your only limitation is the amount of space you can do it in and your imagination. You can either build in a pre-determined world for public building, or you can choose one of CNW’s many different Packages for purchasing your own world.

Even though the smallest world doesn’t provide much space, I myself have seen wonderful builds by Citizens using up every spare centimeter they could squeeze out of a world. And some of the largest worlds within the Universe of CNW, don’t use up a lot of space at all. Anything from Medieval/Fantasy builds to SciFi/Space worlds exist within CNW. It’s special to visit each and every world, and as they say with photography, every photo is a window into the photographers spirit.

With the browser that runs CNW, come a myriad of tools at your fingertips. And with the newest version 4.1, even more tools are at your disposal.

Just to list a few of them:

  • Copy and Paste Objects and move them around your world in real time

  • Multiple Object selection

  • Assign Triggers (Activate, Bump, etc)

  • Assign Different Commands (Play a movie, make a noise, make it move!)

  • Edit the terrain with the same easy to use interface

  • Create a “mover”(make different objects ride-able, such as cars, boats, hang gliders, etc)

  • Import your own objects that you’ve created, compatible formats are .cob, .rwx, .scn and .x files.

And much, much more is available. Building does take practice but that’s just  the start of all the fun!

Avatars

What fun would it be if everyone looked the same? In CNW, each world has an owner definable Avatar list that the visitor may choose from and select to wear that Avatar. If you have your own world, you may import your own Avatars from different makers around the Internet, or design your own using your 3D design software of your choice.

Communicating

Of course you have to be able to communicate. The main communication system in CNW naturally is chatting. When you enter a world, and users are within range, you may begin typing to speak with them and have a jolly good time. There is also a whisper feature so you can whisper to one person for private messaging.

For sending someone a message out of world or a user that isn’t online and you would like to leave them a message, there is the Telegram feature. When that person logs in next they’ll get that message.

You can also Join or Invite others in the browser. If you need someone to see something, you can invite them to join you, or you can join them and you’ll pop right in front of them!

If all that isn’t enough for you, then you can also send and receive files from right within the browser. Fun eh?

Getting the help you need

To reiterate, the core of CNW’s values is the family nature of every member. If members need help with something, all they need do is ask. There is also a community forum run which seeks to answer any questions one may ask. A last resort would be to seek help using the contact form of the CyberNet Worlds web site.

Testing out Windows Live Writer

August 20, 2008 – 12:13 pm

Lets see how this works out.

I just installed Windows Live Writer and within moments I fell in love with it. Mind you I’m not a huge fan of any MS product, however this one is useful and intuitive.

It lets you write an entry to any blog, straight from the program. It will even download the theme or style from the weblog so you can see how it will look before you publish it. This is pure genius.

It even lets you insert image and videos, and when you publish, it automatically uploads those as well.

It lets you insert a map as well. Below is where I live, in that building in the middle. Pretty swell eh?

This will also help me write my reviews to berryreview.com! If ONLY this was available for the BlackBerry, my life would be set!

Galaxy nightclub… A lost legend

July 27, 2008 – 6:12 am

As I lie here in bed, basking in the red glow of my floor lamps and Depeche Mode soothes my ears, I reminisce of a time lost.
When I was serving in the Navy and stationed in Hawaii, I frequented a nightclub that I miss dearly. It was a place one could truely get lost from the world they belong to and enter a new dimension that everyone is accepted to. From all walks of life they came; young and old, gay, bi, transgendered and straight, large and thin, short and tall.
Enter Galaxy nightclub.
After you parked your car and made your way to the front entrance, the distinct smell of clove cigarettes filled the night air. Its a welcoming smell, and you walk just a bit faster. After you paid the cover charge, you begin to look for your friends. Just outside the building is a fenced in area where one could breathe the fresh air of a tropical evening and recover from dancing.
Walking in you step through a dark hallway with the appropriate props to remind one of a hive from an Aliens movie or any number of Giger’s creations. From here you can go three ways. Directly in front of you is a bar, but they only serve water. But since its BYOB the barkeep will also keep it nice and cold for you in the cooler.
To the right is what I call simply the Techno room. For those into beats that will shake the very synapses of your gray matter and make the hair at the back of your neck dance, then this room is for you. As the night wears on, you’ll find attendees relaxing on couches that surround the room, and shout to one another as one does when you can’t hear anything.
If we had taken a left earlier, we would have entered my favorite section of Galaxy. This is where I had done some serious dancing and worked off a few pounds. I simply loved the music that was played from the first time I went. Grunge, Goth, Industrial, Punk and some good ole hard rock permeated the room as sweaty bodies danced to their delight. Dancing solo was the norm, but of course there were the ones that loved to put on a good show with their partner, be they the same or opposite sex.
The strobe lights and fog machine set the stage for an all around fun night. TV’s set in walls showed some trippy visualizations to the beat of the music, and glowstick dancers gave a show to those on cloud X (read ecstasy).
A newcomer might ask what these strange metal contraptions are against the walls. On a regular night these would just stand as an ornament. But it was one special night, once a month, that your question would be answered and suspicions confirmed.

That night was appropriately named Dungeon.

Dungeon was the main event of Galaxy nightclub. Its the one you wait for in anticipation and mentally prepare.
If your not there early you’ll have to get in line and wait a bit, but you could get in pretty quickly. The price was jacked up to $20 bucks, but its not a bad deal considering its going to be the best night of your month. The fenced in area has been expanded to make more room for extra tables and chairs. As the crowd fills in, the dancing starts and Dungeon truly starts. That metal contraption you were staring at? Its in the shape of a cross made of iron rebar rods and you can step inside… Now off with your shirt and put your wrists just here while I fasten the straps… Great… Where’s my candle and whip?
No, I had never been the dom in these acts, but I have been the dominated before and to tell you the truth it was quite the enticing experience. But we aren’t talking about me, back to Dungeon. Your curiosity now sated you move back to the main room for dancing and so you do. The crowd is wild as shiny people undulate against one another and dance until they can barely move anymore, usually until about 6 AM. You’ve bought countless amount of water from the bar due to your exertion, or due to other activities. Oh yeah, things happened on the dance floor I really shouldn’t talk about, but were interesting nonetheless.
Outside hands exchange pretty little pills for 20 a pop underneath tables. Local tattoo and piercing parlor owners attend to show of their wares and services to attract potential customers. Undercover agents of some sort walk stiffly among the crowd, as obvious as a white stain on a Monica blue dress, and easily avoided.
One Dungeon night Ron Jeremy showed up, but unfortunately I wasn’t there. I would have loved to meet the legend.

That was all about four years ago. And I miss it dearly. According to my friend Lana, Galaxy nightclub no longer exists.
If you wish, you may visit the website, which hasn’t been touched in a long time.
www.dungeonhawaii.com
I also have a few pics of Halloween Dungeon ‘04 on my Flickr account, which can be accessed via the tab at the top of my blog.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever find a club like Galaxy again. I’ve even thought of opening my own at some point. That would be interesting.

No Internet

May 21, 2008 – 8:06 pm

It sure is a shame when one doesn’t have the internet. But thats why you haven’t seen me post in a while. I’m jobless, so cannot afford to have the internet, except on my BlackBerry, which I am grateful for. I’m posting this from a friend’s computer.

If anyone wants to pay my internet bill for me, or donate, your more than welcome to. :P

I’ll be back soon
